HOW WE SAMPLE A BRONZE CASTING CORE
All sampling is carried out in a darkened room by an accredited agent.
Most bronze pieces are made by casting molten bronze round a clay mould (casting core). In many cases the casting core is left inside the object. If a thick deposit of fired clay is visible, it will be possible to take a sample simply by scraping through an opening or from the base.
Often there is casting core trapped inside otherwise hollow sections such as handles legs, heads or torsos. In these cases it is necessary to drill a small hole in the metal to reach the core.

RESULTS AND CERTIFICATE
Sampling is included in the bronze casting core authenticity testing cost if you’re in the UK but a travel charge applies outside central London. If you are outside the UK, there will be a separate sampling fee, which you should pay directly to our authorised agent.
